About Charlotte Group
We are a Big Book study group committed to working the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous as outlined in our basic text. We believe that the solution to alcoholism lies in a spiritual awakening that comes from taking the steps with rigorous honesty and a willingness to go to any lengths for victory over alcohol.
Whether you're new to AA or have been around for years, you'll find a strong fellowship here. We study the Big Book together, share our experiences of recovery, and support each other in living sober lives one day at a time.
About Alcoholics Anonymous
Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship that shares their experience, strength and hope with each other to solve their common problem and help others recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking.
Founded in 1935 by Bill Wilson and Dr. Bob Smith in Akron, Ohio, AA has grown to over 2 million members in more than 180 countries. The program is based on the 12 Steps—a set of spiritual principles that, when practiced as a way of life, can expel the obsession to drink and enable the sufferer to become happily and usefully whole.
AA is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization, or institution. There are no dues or fees, and the program is supported entirely by voluntary contributions from members. Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics achieve sobriety.
